Eurobasket 1935

The Spanish team came in third place at the first European basketball championship, the Eurobasket 1935 held by the International Basketball Federation's FIBA Europe continental federation. They defeated Belgium in the preliminary round and Czechoslovakia in the semifinals to qualify for the final match against Latvia. The Spaniards lost the game 24-18 to finish with the silver medal. Spain hosted the 2007 Eurobasket. Spanish coach Pepu Hernández included the same 12 players that won the 2006 World Champion in Japan. They made it through the final, increasing expectations for the Spanish national team to be the first to win the Eurobasket held right after having won the World championship, however, they were defeated by Russia.
