The citizens of this community speak a derivative of the German language; most also speak English and Spanish. It's largely an agricultural community with some light industry, furniture making, prefabricated wood houses and the only oil field in production in Belize. It's unique in Belize because except for the palm trees one might think one was in a small town in the Southern United States. German (called Deutsch in German; in German the term germanisch is equivalent to English Germanic), is a member of the western group of Germanic languages and is one of the worlds major languages. ... There are three ways into Spanish Lookout. One requires the use of a hand cranked ferry, one is a long dirt road that goes through the neighboring town of Bullet Tree, and one is a bridge the Mennonites built after years of promises to build one by the government and one failed attempt.
