The Special Agent in Charge refers to a position on the fictional TV show 24. The Special Agent in Charge of CTU, or the Director of CTU, usually coordinates CTU with other agencies such as the FBI and DHS. The Director of Field Operations and the Chief of Staff at CTU report to the Director. This position is usually filled by the senior most or best agent at CTU. If the current Director of CTU is unable to fulfill his or her duties, the Director of Division, to whom the Director of CTU reports, will either promote an agent at CTU to the position, or place someone from Division at the post. If no one is available for the position, the Director of Division may place him/herself at the position. Jack Bauer


Bauer was second in charge of CTU when Walsh was director. However, when Walsh died, he became director. He was at Palmer's speech when an attempt on his life was made. Bauer tried to save Palmer but was arrested.

Alberta Green was placed in charge of CTU by Ryan Chappelle after the office was vacant. She seemed to have dislike for Nina Myers. She was later fired by Chappelle. When Michelle Dessler resigned, Buchanan became the Director of CTU.


Lynn McGill


Lynn McGill was sent from Division to oversee the work of Bill Buchanan and CTU. After defying an order to place Jack Bauer into custody, McGill sends Buchanan to holding. Agent Curtis Manning then invokes Section 112 removing McGill from his post. McGill dies from the Sentox gas attack on CTU. Karen Hayes is assigned to CTU after the Sentox gas attack. She takes over CTU when DHS absorbs CTU Los Angeles. Nadia was promoted to the job after Buchanan was fired. At first, she didn't think she was fit for the job, but gained confidence after handling her job well. Later on, CTU is infiltrated by Chinese mercenaries and Milo Pressman is murdered in front of her. Milo Pressman was a fictional character, played by Eric Balfour on the show 24. ...
