The division Equisetophyta is a taxon in the kingdom Plantae containing primitive land plants. Now extinct plant species in this division were among the first plants to grow on land. With the exception of the horsetailsEquisetum, all members of this grouping are known only from fossils, and included large trees that grew during the Carboniferous period. There is only one class, the Equisetopsida.
Sphenophyta goes into the Caufield Cup with only 50kg, but will carry 51kg on the day to allow Nickolic (who cannot make the weight) to stay on him.
Sphenophyta's talent did not come as a surprise to part owner and Hawthorn footabller Shane Crawford, who predicted it's future success on The Footy Show over a month ago.
Sphenophyta, previously trained by Richard Otto in New Zealand, won the Ipswich Cup during his Queensland winter campaign before a group of Freedman's clients including Shane, and Mummify's part-owners John O'Neill and Mark Pegic bought an 80 per cent share.
Unlike the Sphenophyta and the Lycopodophyta, many of the genera of this phylum have survived to the present day (Margulis and Schwartz 1998).
The evolution from the Lycopodophyta to the Sphenophyta, according to Stewart et al.
We examined 21 genera that represent the phyla Lycopodophyta, Sphenophyta and Pteridophyta of the Plant Kingdom to analyze the Lycopodophyta as it corresponds to the taxonomy of Holt (2000) and Bold et al.
