History

SpiceJet was earlier known as Royal Airways, a reincarnation of ModiLuft. SpiceJet marked its entry in service with Rs. 99 fares for the first 99 days. There were 9000 seats available at this rate. It followed it up with a Rs. 999 promotional scheme on select routes. Their marketing theme "offering low 'everyday spicey fares' and great guest services to price conscious travelers". Baggage allowance

One of the other cost-cutting feature of Spicejet is to allow only 20 kgs of luggage with each passenger. No extra allowance is given to international passengers.
