Spiez is a small town with approx. 12,500 inhabitants located at the southern bank of the Thunersee in the Canton of Berne in Switzerland. Worth a visit is the casle above the harbour with its representation rooms 13th to 18th century


The Hotel Belvédère in Spiez was accommodating the German national football team during the 1954 World Cup (soccer) held in Switzerland. "The spirit of Spiez", developed there among the players , is regarded as important factor that helped the German team to win the world championship.
