SquiresGate enjoyed many happy years in the WLFL winning the Division Two title in 1980-1 and the Richardson Cup in 1987.Sqires Gate moved up to the North West Counties League in 1991-92and celebrated their golden jubilee in 1998 by reaching the final of the Division Two Trophy.
In season 2000-01 Gate won the Division Two Trophy and were promoted to Division One after finishing third in 2002 after Stand Athletic were denied promotion due to ground grading.
