Sriharikota (also Sriharikote) is a barrier island off the coast of Andhra Pradesh in India. It separates the Pulicat Lake from the Bay of Bengal, and is home to the town of Pulicat. It also houses India's only satellite launch center in the Satish Dhawan Space Centre used by the Indian Space Research Organization to launch satellites using multi-stage rockets such as the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle or the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle.
