Encyclopedia > St Johnstone Football Club

St Johnstone is a Scottish football team. They play their home games at McDiarmid Park in Perth. They were formed in 1884 and, as of 2003, are in the Scottish First Division. Four seasons previously, they had their best ever season finishing 3rd in the Premier League behind Rangers and Celtic, reaching the final of the League Cup and the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup. Consequently Saints enjoyed a UEFA Cup adventure with trips to Finland and France. However, St Johnstone were relegated in 2002, and failed to bounce straight back up again in 2003.

They are the only League team in England or Scotland to have the letter "J" in their name.
