St. Thomas is perhaps the most recognizable song by jazz legend Sonny Rollins. Rollins, a saxophonist, based it on a nursery song his mother sang to him when he was a child. As such, it has a distinct Caribbean vibe to it. It was first released in Rollins' album Saxophone Colossus. Jazz is a musical art form characterized by blue notes, syncopation, swing, call and response, polyrhythms, and improvisation. ...
