The strength of the Stampede's story of origins is also materially secured by its articulation with other national foundation myths, and Banff Indian Days, held at Banff until the 1970s, is one such articulation which is important for two reasons.
At the Calgary Stampede, the parade, the layout of the fairgrounds, the rodeo, and the media all lay out a particular ``pedagogy'' of regional origins, articulated to national narratives of identity.
