Stannard Township is a township in Ontonagon County, Michigan, USA. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 833.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 324.0 km² (125.1 mi²). 323.9 km² (125.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.02% water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 833 people, 364 households, and 232 families residing in the township. The population density is 2.6/km² (6.7/mi²). There are 518 housing units at an average density of 1.6/km² (4.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 98.20% White, 0.12% African American, 0.84% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.84% from two or more races. 0.60% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 364 households out of which 23.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.5% are married couples living together, 6.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.0% are non-families. 31.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
