Encyclopedia > Star Map (Star Wars)

Star Maps were ancient semi-sentient devices created during the reign of the Rakatan Infinite Empire. Before the government collapsed and was forgotten, the Star Maps were damaged by the remaining Rakata so that nobody would discover their secrets. However, as all rakatan technology, the Star Maps auto-repaired themselves, and gradually recovered the lost data. These maps contained information regarding the location of the Rakatan homeworld, where the Star Forge was located. During the Mandalorian wars, Darth Revan and Darth Malak found them, and discovered the location of the long forgotten Star Forge. These Star Maps were left on some planets which used to belong to the ancient Infinite Empire. The Star Maps that led to the Star Forge were: Dantooine, Korriban, Manaan, Tatooine and Kashyyyk. There is no evidence that the Rakata constructed other Star Maps during their reign.
