Star TV is an Asian TV service owned by the News Corporation. It is based out of Hong Kong but there are also programming offices in India and Australia.


According to the Star TV website, their services has more than 300 million viewers in 53 countries and is watched by approximately 100 million viewers every day.


Channels serviced by Star TV:

  • Channel V - An Asian version of MTV; its main international hub used to be in Hong Kong but has since relocated to Malaysia. There are also other Channel [V] channels such as Channel [V] India, Channel [V] China, and Channel [V] Australia.
  • Star World - Popular entertainment programming broadcast to Asia from the United States and the United Kingdom.
  • Star Sports - a sports channel, devoted to different events, such as boxing, auto racing, golf, and many more.

With the premiere of Star Trek on NBC in September 1966, few could have imagined that this ambitious yet often uneven science-fiction series would go on to become one of the most actively celebrated and financially lucrative narrative franchises in television history.
NBC threatened to cancel Star Trek after its second season, but persuaded in some degree by a large letter-writing campaign by fans to save the show, the network picked up the series for a third and final year.
