The first season of StarStruck was directed by Lino Cayetano, who has studied and taught film in the University of the Philippines, aside from his film and audiovisual communications course in New York Film Academy. The pilot episode aired on October 27, 2003. Out of thousands who auditioned for a stab at stardom, only 100 were chosen for the first cut. From 100, it was trimmed down to 60, from 60 to 30 and from 30 to the 14 finalists. Survivor Six This season was the first occurrence where a former eliminated contestant returned to the competition. CJ Muere was eliminated on December 26, 2004 but later replaced Benj Pacia and returned to the contest through a major twist wherein an Avenger will be given the chance to re-enter the contest by emerging with at least fourth-best in cumulative scores among the Survivor Six (Cenon, Reyes, Young, Pacia, Tan, de Jesus). Muere emerged in the top 4, and was reinstated while Pacia was eliminated. Some viewers did not like this twist for it undermined the rules and regulations of the show. Computer Controversy A controversial incident happened in the sixth week of Season 3. StarStruck Council member director Louie Ignacio revealed that someone from the remaining survivors had opened a confidential file on the show's computer and had subsequently told the other finalists about the next challenges the show has in store for them. Those implicated were Sara Larsson, Jackie Rice and Jana Roxas, with Sara eventually ousted as the sixth finalist to bid the contest goodbye. But even with Sara eliminated, the issue did not die but grew into a big controversy with more shocking revelations and crying bouts. Jackie and Jana accused another survivor, Arci Muñoz, of lying. The show aired footage captured by surveillance cameras showing the girls taking turns at the StarStruck computer, but they all denied opening the confidential file in question. On the seventh week fifth StarStruck Avenger Sara Larsson was given time to reveal her side of the story. On that same night, Arci Muñoz was eliminated.

Homecoming: A StarStruck Special The Final 4 of StarStruck Batch 3 were given their own TV special entitled Homecoming: A StarStruck Special which was aired last April 23. In the special, Marky, Jackie, Gian and Iwa went back to their respective hometowns where they were treated accordingly as VIPs in their respective home provinces. Apart from that, there were several revelations from the Final 4 as far as their lives were concerned.
Coming soon On September 3, 2006, GMA Network formally announced the return of their reality-based talent show now titled StarStruck: The Next Level (aka StarStruck 4), a new and improved edition of the popular show. In the 4th year of the reality-talent search, the age bracket for star wannabes was adjusted from 15-18 in previous batches to 16-21, a milestone in Starstruck History. Same as the previous batches applicants will be trimmed to 14 until two will be declared ultimate survivors (1 male, 1 female) and they would be officially paired as loveteam. If last year, the twist was that from two Ultimate Survivors, one will emerge as Sole Survivor. This time, aside from the Ultimate Survivors, the network would also be looking for an Ultimate Hunk or a Matinee Idol and an Ultimate Sweetheart, who will be developed as individual talents and not as part of a love team. GMA Network is conducting auditions nationwide for the next few months.
