In this Thanksgiving episode, the boys send in money to Sally Struthers' organization to help Ethiopians, hoping to get a watch as compensation. There is a mix-up, and instead a little Ethiopian boy (Starvin' Marvin) is sent to them. Cartman riducules Starvin' Marvin all during Thanksgiving lunch. Eventually, the government comes to get Marvin (who is at Cartman's house) to send him home, but Marvin claims that Cartman is the Ethiopian boy, and Cartman gets sent to Ethiopia. Meanwhile, Cartman is still in Ethiopia and is starving to death. He is dying of thirst, and there are bugs everywhere. He finds the Red Cross and they have run out of food and have sent the food to all the other Ethiopians. Cartman is so miserable that he prays to God to send him home, and says he will be a better person and start to care about starving people. He then collapses and wakes up, and sees the shack that looks empty. Apparently, Sally Struthers is taking the food from the Ethiopians and Cartman, and when Cartman realizes this, he fulfills his promise by telling all the Ethiopians what she is doing. A riot quickly forms outside and Cartman and the Ethiopians take the food that's rightfully theirs. The Anarchist Black Cross was originally called the Anarchist Red Cross. Kenny's Death

  • Attacked by mutant turkeys; loses an eye in the attack.

Trivia

  • The turkeys make an appearance in the South Park video game.
  • When Stan calls Cartman a "fat-ass", Cartman retorts by calling Stan a "vas deferens".
  • There are two interesting analogies written on the classroom blackboard. The first reads "Trees are to bushes as bulldogs are to houses" and the second reads "David Duchovny is to tampons as nougat is to chocolate".
  • Wendy and Cartman's argument about giving charity to poor people (which Cartman ends by declaring, "Well then, perhaps they (the poor) should die, and decrease the surplus population!", is drawn almost word-for-word from A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, with Cartman (of course) speaking Scrooge's lines. This is directly referenced right after when Mr. Garrison says "Alright children, that's enough Dickens for today." Trey Parker and Matt Stone have also parodied Dickens through the character of Pip and the episode of the same name.
  • Both Chef and the leader of the mutant turkeys dress up like Mel Gibson as William Wallace in Braveheart to give a pep talk that parodies the famous speech in the movie.
  • Trey Parker and Matt Stone have both said that this is one of their favorite episodes.
  • An audio clip from this episode was used in the movie Duplex.
  • When the turkeys kill Kenny and take out his eye, you can see that his eye is blue.
  • In the VH1 special on South Park, it is mentioned that comedian Jerry Seinfeld had asked to guest on the show. He had been slated for this episode to provide the sound for one of the random turkeys, much the same as the unusual way the show had used George Clooney in Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride. Unlike George, Jerry's agent did not get the joke and cancelled his appearance.
  • The individual speeches given by Chef and the turkey are both references to Braveheart
  • At the end of this episode, it seems like Kenny has a brother.
