History A section in Hudson County between the Bayonne Bridge and the west side of Jersey City was formerly Route 169, but was renamed Route 440 in 2001 to achieve continuity with the numbering of the New York State portion of the road on Staten Island. The original plan was to extend Route 440 along the west side of Bayonne, but local opposition killed the project. Much of the right-of-way for the proposed Route 440 in Bayonne is now being developed as parkland. Location Location of Jersey City within New Jersey. ...
