Generally considered by "Dead Heads" to be the Grateful Dead's worst live album, Steal Your Face was popularly called Steal Your Money upon its original release (June of 1976). Recorded in concert between October 16th and October 20th of 1974, Steal Your Face was built around Grateful Dead "songs" as opposed to "jams"; this, combined with a poor sound quality on its original release caused many fans to question the band's motives for releasing it.
