Stebbins is located at 63°30'43" North, 162°16'29" West (63.511893, -162.274632)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 95.6 km˛ (36.9 mi˛). 91.1 km˛ (35.2 mi˛) of it is land and 4.5 km˛ (1.7 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 4.71% water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 547 people, 123 households, and 104 families residing in the city. The population density is 6.0/km˛ (15.6/mi˛). There are 134 housing units at an average density of 1.5/km˛ (3.8/mi˛). The racial makeup of the city is 5.12% White, 0.18% Black or African American, 93.97% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.73% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 123 households out of which 64.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.2% are married couples living together, 11.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 15.4% are non-families. 12.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 0.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 4.45 and the average family size is 4.86.


In the city the population is spread out with 47.2% under the age of 18, 12.4% from 18 to 24, 22.1% from 25 to 44, 13.7% from 45 to 64, and 4.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 20 years. For every 100 females there are 115.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 114.1 males.


The median income for a household in the city is $23,125, and the median income for a family is $28,214. Males have a median income of $33,125 versus $20,000 for females. The per capita income for the city is $8,249. 41.9% of the population and 40.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 45.5% of those under the age of 18 and 33.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
