Stephen Krasner is currently the Director of Policy Planning at the United States Department of State. He is on leave from his position as a political science professor at Stanford University. Krasner received his bachelor's degree from Cornell University, his master's degree from Columbia University, and his PhD from Harvard University. Stephen Krasner was appointed as Director for Policy Planning by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on February 4, 2005.
Prior to his appointment, Dr. Krasner was director of the Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law (CDDRL), deputy director of the Stanford Institute for International Studies (SIIS), an SIIS senior fellow, a senior fellow by courtesy at the Hoover Institution, and the Graham H. Stuart Professor of International Relations at Stanford University.
Krasner received his BA in history from Cornell University, his MA in international affairs from Columbia University, and his PhD in political science from Harvard University.
