Stephen Oppenheimer is a well-known expert in the field of synthesizing DNA studies with archaeological, anthropological, linguistic and other field studies. He is a member of Green College, Oxford, and has authored the books Eden in the East: The Drowned Continent of Southeast Asia and The Real Eve: Modern Man's Journey Out of Africa. The latter focuses on his hypothesis that modern humans emerged from East Africa in a single major exodus, numbering no more than a few hundred individuals.
