SERGIUS STEPNIAK (1852-1895), Russian revolutionist, whose real name was Sergius Michaelovitch Kravchinski, was born in South Russia, of parents who belonged to a noble family.
Stepniak constantly wrote and lectured, both in Great Britain and the United States, in support of his views, and his energy, added to the interest of his personality, won him many friends.
Stepniak was killed by a railway engine at a level crossing at Bedford Park, Chiswick, where he resided, on the 23rd of December 1895.
Stepniak recalled that the force required to pull one of his insulated caps during the interface dielectric test was about 400 pounds and not near 500 pounds reported in the Cooper tests.
Stepniak stated that all of the testing in Elastimolds laboratory indicates that the cuff area is where the problem is produced.
Stepniak pointed out that the test protocol was designed to simulate the field conditions that caused partial vacuum induced flashover, which occurs prior to circuit interruption.
