Economics

Stetten is a large German Federal Armed Forces location with approximately 2,200 soldiers stationed there and attaches to the troop exercise area hay mountain. According to indication of the city administration annually additionally about 1,300 people liable for military service are announced in Stetten to the master garrison. The troop exercise area was already furnished in the years after 1910. From 1945 to 1959 it stood under the administration of the French armed forces (FFA). Stetten am kalten Markt is situated at an altitude of 768 m in the elevated plains of the Heuberg region in the north of the Sigmaringen district of Baden-Württemberg.
The earliest reference to Stetten by Kaltenmark is found in the Reichenau chronicle of around 1500, which mentions the place as having been a possession of the monastery of Reichenau as early as AD 799.
In 1803 Stetten for a short period came in possession of the Cistercian monastery Salem, but in 1806 was awarded to the Grand Duchy of Baden.
