Born in Dundee in 1963, he was educated at Carnoustie High School and Abertay University. First standing for parliament at the 1992 General Election in Kirkcaldy, Hosie went on to stand for both the Westminster and Scottish parliaments. He is also currently the SNP national organisation convenor, having previously been the party's national secretary. First standing for the UK parliament at the 1992 General Election in Kirkcaldy, Hosie went on to stand for both the Westminster and Scottish parliaments.
Hosie is also anti-english as he quoted in the Daily Mirror on October 31 2006 over Adam Smith being made the new head on the £20 note he said 'And this Little Englander attitude should raise its ugly head'.
