Of the three Phantom Pain Extendeds shown in Destiny, Sting appears to be the most sentient/humane and mentally stable. He actually cares for the fates of his two teammates, acting as an older brother figure to Stellar. He is also the only Phantom Pain Extended to not appear to have a "block" word like Stellar and Auel (if he does have one, it is never revealed).

Trivia

  • The choice of seiyuu for Sting and Stellar may be an inside joke; Stellar is voiced by Houko Kuwashima, who voices Kokubunji Minoru in Chobits, while Junichi voices Kojima Yoshiyuki, a fellow expert in persocoms in the same anime. Furthermore, the two Extended's natures during battle may even be part of this joke. Kokubunji (Stellar) was a more humane expert while Yoshiyuki (Sting) was an unscrupulous character.
  • Sting was made famous when his mobile suit was destroyed, for 2 reasons:
    • Sting became the first Gundam Pilot in history to have been defeated by grunt suits (i.e. Murasames).
    • He escapes the suit (this made him famous as we clearly see the suit getting sliced in half in mid-air at the cockpit and exploding soon afterwards).
  • Before Destiny came out, most anime news sites have said Tony Sampson would portray Sting in the English dub. The mistake was noted when Miller's name was credited, though it has yet to be corrected.
  • In the fight against ZAFT guards at the Armory One, Sting's movements in battle very closely resemble the Gun Kata technique.
  • In the Suit CDs, he is featured in Volume 7, along with the two other Extendeds. The audio drama clip has them discussing about basketball.
