Victoria Square is at the very centre of the village. Immediately next to this is a shopping area which includes The Forge Shopping Centre. Some of the old forge equipment remains, painted in bright colours and made into monuments. The village centre is also home to a number of modern bars and restaurants, as well as traditional public houses. The Red Lion Inn dates back to the early 1800s.
