Unlike other parts of the Greater Toronto Area, Stouffville's population remained the same throughout the 1990s. In 1995, a portion Highway 47 east to Toronto Road, 2 km east of Highway 48 which used to run for 2 km with Stouffville Road and ran with Ninth Line was moved north as a bypass of Stouffville and shortened 4 km of its total length. The highway began near Bloomington Road. The nearest industrial area is found 7 km northeast in the western part of Uxbridge. The industrial area was formed in the late 1990s.
