It was officially opened in 1954, and although its building has had additions built onto the original school four times in the 1960s, its capacity has not been able to maintain the pace of the population growth in the Stouffville area. As a result, a new facility is being built, scheduled to open in September, 2007.[1]

Stouffville District Secondary School celebrated the first ever OFFSA victory for both girls and boys senior hockey teams in the 2006/2007 season, a feat which has never been recorded before.

The school will be moving to a new location beginning the 2007/2008 school year.
