Styal is a village in Cheshire, England, on the River Bollin and near to the town of Wilmslow. It is a popular commuter village for nearby Manchester. The village is dominated by Quarry Bank Mill and much of its housing is comprised of the mill's estate. The mill and the surrounding country park are owned by The National Trust. Styal is part of the Quarry Bank Mill Estate owned by National Trust and is located close to Wilmslow in Cheshire.
The Styal Estate including the Mill, Apprentice House and Styal Village is a great place for a visit; a complete example of an early factory complex it gives a taste of what life must have been like during the industrial revolution.
The Styal Estate including Quarry Bank Mill was donated to the National Trust in 1939 by Alexander Carlton Greg, although it continued to operate as a working mill until 1959; it was first opened as a museum in 1978.
