Subscriber: In a public switched telecommunications network such as the common telephone system, the ultimate user, i.e., customer, of a communications service.


Subscribers use end instruments, such as telephones, modems, facsimile machines, computers, and remote terminals, that are connected to a central office. Subscribers do not include communications systems operating personnel except for their personal terminals.


A subscriber is also a person who takes a magazine, newspaper or other periodical publication for regular delivery.
