Anti-Radical Muslim Sentiments - Many in the American Muslim establishment have expressed anger against Myrick for describing the Islamic Society of North America as a group of "radical jihadists" in an open letter objecting against the United States Justice Department sending envoys to the Islamic Society's annual convention.[3]. At that time, federal prosecutors named the Islamic Society of North America as an "unindicted co-conspirator" in an alleged criminal conspiracy to support a Palestinian Arab terrorist group, Hamas. Prosecutors applied the label in connection with a trial for five officials of a defunct charity, the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development.
Myrick has explained her concern of an "Islamofascist Threat", such as in an interview with Investor's Business Daily.
