Sukhona (Сухона) is a river in the European part of Russia, tributary to the Northern Dvina. Its length is 580 km. Its source is the Kubena Lake, in Vologda Oblast, near Vologda. It flows roughly in north-eastern direction. Towns on the river Sukhona include Sokol and Totma. The Sukhona joins the river Yug in Veliki Ustyug, thus forming the Northern Dvina.
