The garden, left to the city by Baron Sumitomo, whose family owned the mammoth trading company of the same name, is now part of Tennoji-koen (Tues–Sun 9.30am–5pm; ¥150), which also includes the modern Great Conservatory, a giant glasshouse brimming with plants and flowers from around the world.
The best reason for visiting the park, though, is for the Sunday karaoke fests on the pedestrian street which cuts through to Tennoji Zoo.
