Summerlin is a 22,500 acre (91 km²) planned community in southern Nevada, along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley near the Spring Mountains and Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. It includes a variety of land uses, including residential, commercial, recreational, educational, medical, open space, and religious. As of December 2003, Summerlin's population is 84,350. Construction began in 1990.
