Sunnhordland is a landscape in the western part of Norway, consisting of the southern, coastal regions of the county Hordaland, from the mouth of the Hardangerfjord and outwards to the Atlantic Ocean. Leirvik is the centre of the municipality of Stord in Hordaland, Norway.
Leirvik is also the regional centre of Sunnhordland, and has many public services and offices such as the regional court and the Sunnhordland Folkemuseum.
Leirvik is also a shopping centre in the region of Sunnhordland with many restaurants, and a very popular harbour in the summer.

Sunnhordland Folkemuseum was started in 1913 and is the regional museum for Sunnhordland.
The museum is responsible for 42 buildings of antiquarian value in Sunnhordland, between these are the ruins of the monastery on Halsnøy, the Sæbøtun in Etne, the Nerheimtun in Ølen, Nistovetunet, Haugahuset and Gjerdetunet in Kvinnherad and Seløystova on Tysnes.
