Encyclopedia > Super car

A supercar is type of high-performance automobile, although opinions differ widely as to the exact definition. Most people believe that the level of performance is the main or only defining criteria, but there is little consensus as to where this level lies and whether or not the same level should be applied to vehicles of all ages. Some believe that other factors such as styling, body type and the prestige of the marque are also important.

The term supercar is less frequently used to describe a car that is extraordinary in an area other than performance.

See also: car classification and list of supercars.

Supercar was the title of an early 1960s children's television series in the United Kingdom. See Supercar (television)

In Italy the series Knight Rider was re-titled Supercar .
