The MLS SuperDraft is an annual event in which the Major League Soccer teams select players who have graduated from college or otherwise been signed by the league. The SuperDraft was first instituted in 2000, as a combination of the MLS College Draft, in which players having graduated college were selected, and the MLS Supplemental Draft, in which all other players were chosen. The draft is divided into six rounds of ten picks, the order of which is determined by a combination of the teams' playoff and regular season positions.
The MLS SuperDraft selection order is determined as follows: The first selection will be made by Major League Soccer's 13th team, Toronto FC, who will play in their inaugural season in 2007.
January 20, 2006: The 2007 SuperDraft natural third round pick was traded from Columbus to FC Dallas for the FC Dallas 2006 first overall fourth round pick (#38).
December 14, 2006: The rights for Brandon Prideaux was traded from DC United to Colorado for the third round 2007 SuperDraft pick originally from New York and the natural third round pick in the 2008 SuperDraft.
