Surinder Shinda is also noted to have been a colleague of renowned Punjabi singer Kuldeep Manak.
Shinda is married to the sister of Dev Thrikewala who is known to have written lyrics for Shinda and other renowned singers, such as Kuldeep Manak.
Today Shinda is mainly involved in working with the younger artists and produces vocals for them to apply to their music. Although working with many new talents his songs have had little success or recognition. His latest album 'Putt Sardaran De' however had become a success in the punjabi music market.
The majority of Chamkila's earlier songs had lyrics to do with electricity such as a shock and connection etc, due to the fact he wanted to be an electrician.
By the age of 15 he had a number of songs sung by famous Punjabi folk singers such as SurinderShinda, Narinder Biba, Kulie Ram, Bibi Tara and Sohan Lal etc.
Chamkila began toplay the dholki and vaja for SurinderShinda regurlary.
