Susie Dent is a Britishlexicographer born in Woking in the late 1960s. After studying French and German at Oxford University, she worked as a language teacher in the USA and for a German publisher before going to work for the Oxford University Press (OUP). She has been a regular on-screen adjudicator on the popular British game showCountdown since 1992, having made over 1000 appearances. She left the OUP in approximately 2000 and now works as a writer and contributor to discussions of language issues and words in the news.
