Svema used to be the major film manufacturer in USSR, but their film lost competition to imported product during late 1990s. They still make black and white photo film and photo paper which has a steady demand among photography enthusiasts as an easy and sturdy product for beginners in home film development and printing, although this become a side business for the company.
