Encyclopedia > Sven Goran Eriksson

Sven-Göran Eriksson (born May 2, 1948) is currently the manager of the English national football team. A Swede, Eriksson is the first foreigner to coach England's national team.

He has been a highly-regarded football coach for nearly two decades, first establishing his reputation in his native Sweden, before enjoying successes with club sides in Portugal and Italy. His most significant achievement as a club manager was to win the Italian Serie A title (the Scudetto) with Lazio in the 1999/2000 season — only the second time that the Roman club had won the Italian championship in their history.

He has recently come under fire due to an alleged affair with FA secretary Faria Alam.

Sven Goran Eriksson - England Manager (1195 words)
Due to the fact that Eriksson is on his heels, after we win the world cup.
It has to be said that I too want Sven Goran Eriksson out as soon as possible - The FA have committed an almighty balls up of gargantuan proportions in allowing him to stay.
I shouldn't start already, but Eriksson really does worry me. He seemed to be shooting concerned looks around the hall as the balls were being opened, already seeing pitfalls, banana skins and his own demons at every turn.
Sven-Göran Eriksson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (2120 words)
Eriksson stepped down from his most recent position as the English national football team manager following England's exit from the 2006 World Cup; there was, however, considerable speculation that he was forced out by the English football authorities due to his tenure being punctuated by well-documented tabloid reports of his private life.
Eriksson had initially agreed to take over after the expiration of his contract in summer 2001, but deceided to resign his post at Lazio early, and he officially began his England duties in January of that year.
Eriksson has also had to weather considerable tabloid reporting of his private life, most notably his affairs with the television presenter Ulrika Jonsson[1], and FA secretary Faria Alam [2][3] (in a scandal that led to the resignation of the FA's chief executive, Mark Palios).
