Sven Markelius (1889–1972), was one of the most important modernist Swedish architects. He got his breakthrough with the strict functionalist (international style) Helsingborg Concert Hall (1932). Markelius played an important role in the post-war urban planning of Stockholm, for example in the creation of the model suburb of Vällingby (1950´s).
