The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences or Sveriges Lantbruksuniversitet is a university in Uppsala, Sweden. It is, unlike other state owned universities in Sweden, funded through the budget for the Ministry of Agriculture.

Although its head office is locaded in Ultuna, Uppsala, the university has several campuses in different parts of Sweden, the other main facilities being Alnarp in Lomma Municipality, Skara, and UmeĂ¥.
The university has four faculties: Faculty of Landscape Planning, Horticulture and AgriculturalScience, Faculty of Natural Resources and AgricultureSciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science and Faculty of Forest Sciences.
In the middle of the 18th century the initial steps were taken towards higher education, training and research within the subject areas of agriculture, forestry and veterinary medicine.
Agricultural Institutes were founded in Ultuna in 1848 and Alnarp in 1862.
SLU is a university with a clearly defined role in society: to take responsibility for the development of learning and expertise in areas concerning biological resources and biological production.
