Plot

Amber Leighton (Madonna) is rich, spoiled and arrogant woman, she is invited on a private cruise from Greece to Italy by her husband Tony (Bruce Greenwood). A storm leaves Amber on a desert island, together with the ship's first mate Giuseppe (Adriano Giannini), a communist sailor who she eventually falls in love with. Though Swept Away is quite a bad film, it just might be worth watching if you're with a feminist (doesn't even have to be the vigilant kind; any will do).
With Swept Away, not only has Ritchie abandoned the go-for-broke visual style of his first couple of films, but he's given us two poorly developed characters and expects us to care what happens to them.
Is Swept Away supposed to be a fable?
