Symphonic Death Metal incorporates Complex orchestral and symphonic arrangements into death metal, many times played by keyboardist but sometime an actual orchestra. Arrangements often require an extensive knowledge of music theory and composition as opposed to a death metal band with a keyboard player that does not replicate orchestral elements. Examples of Symphonic Death Metal include Dimmu Borgir, Therion, Abigail Williams, Nile, as well as some material by Cradle of Filth, Extol, Kamelot and Darkane Not considered a specific genre yet, but a broader definition of some of the more orchestrated and classically influenced styles of death metal.
