Encyclopedia > Szack

Szack is a small town in Ukraine, in the region of Volhynia, to the north-west of Kowel. It has approximately 6 000 inhabitants.


The town was first mentioned in 1410. During the Polish Defence War it was the battlefield of the Battle of Szack between Polish forces of general Wilhelm Orlik-Rueckemann and the Soviet 4th Army.
