In 1998, the company lead by Malaysian businessman Edward Teo acquired the rights, intellectual properties and trade marks associated with the production of the TD2000 Roadster from MG TD which was originally developed in Australia. "The TD2000 is a legend redefined, an up-to-the-minute classic that brings the magic back to motoring while capturing the spirit and style of heritage motoring without sacrificing the reliability, performance or comforts of modern transport," said Lifestyle Automotive Ltd's director Tom Martin.
Martin said the TD2000, which he described as a "time machine" -- a combination of tradition and current technology -- has attracted strong interest from motoring enthusiasts in the UK.
The TD2000 Roadster, developed by Australian company Westmex Ltd, made its debut at the Melbourne Motor Show in 1989.
Of course, the TD2000 is no ordinary car; it is a sportscar with styling that mimics those British sportscars of the 1950s, specifically the MGs.
In Japan, the TD2000 will be sold by AI Auto Co Ltd, an importer and distributor of luxury cars as well as used Japanese cars for 15 years.
While Japan is the newest export market for the TD2000, the car is already available in Singapore (the first export market), Australia and a couple of units were also bought by British customers and are running on UK roads.
