According to Consell de l'Audiovisual de Catalunya (Catalonia's Audiovisual Council) report of 2006 [5], the people of Catalonia think TV3 is the channel more politically impartial, the one who informs better, and the one with the best family and sports programming. Its also the first choice for entertaining and the one with the best overall programming.

TV3's current schedule contains informational programs, both daily (Telenotícies, La Nit al Dia) and weekly (Entre línies, 30 minuts), self-produced series (El Cor de la Ciutat, Ventdelplà, La Via Augusta), international dubbed series (Heroes, Invasion, Close to Home as Fiscal Chase), morning and talk-shows (Els Matins - around 22% share, El Club - around 22% share [4]), humor programs (Polònia, Just for Laughs, Algunes imatges més), culinary programs (Cuines, La cuina de l'Isma), sport programs (Gol a gol), documentaries (Bèsties, Caçadors de paraules) as well as movies and sport broadcasts (La Liga matches, Formula One races). The network and Catalan politics

The network's heavy dependence on subsidies from Catalonia's regional government (Generalitat de Catalunya) has led to persistent charges of political bias in the network's news and political reporting. This appears to have some foundations - for example, it came to light that in 1993 Jordi Pujol, then President of Catalonia and leader of the governing Convèrgencia party, commissioned a secret report on the political sympathies of TV3's presenters and reporters. One of the targets was Salvador Alsius, erstwhile newsreader at the network and now Dean of Journalism at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. Efforts by Miquel Puig, a former Director-General of the network, to achieve the kind of political independence enjoyed by the BBC were frustrated and he resigned from the post. The subject surfaced again after the formation of Catalonia's new PSC-ERC-ICV tripartite coalition government in 2003. However, the criticisms of political partiality levelled at the network by these parties during the CiU government's preceding 23 years in power became more muted as the implications of a truly independent public broadcasting corporation began to dawn on Catalonia's new political masters. Legislation has been promised that would finally establish TV3's political independence. However, this commitment remains unfulfilled as of June 2007. The British Broadcasting Corporation, which is usually known as the BBC, is the largest broadcasting corporation in the world in terms of audience numbers, employing 26,000 staff in the United Kingdom alone and with a budget of more than GB£4 billion. ... Political interference may explain why TVC is often slow off the mark in covering breaking stories and gets upstaged by fleeter-footed rivals. A case in point was the assassination of Ernest Lluch, a leading public figure, by the terrorist organization ETA on the 21st of November 2001. Although the assassination took place just 20 minutes away by car from TVC's studios in Sant Joan Despí, the network's news team failed to react even though rival TV stations (Tele 5, Antena 3, TVE, and BTV) were already giving the story massive coverage. The head of TVC's News Department, Josep Maria Torrent, resigned amid public uproar. The official audiovisual watchdog body - the Consell Audiovisual de Catalunya (CAC) stated that 'TVC failed to meet the standards expected of a public broadcaster'. The Union of Catalan Journalists - Sindicat de Periodistes de Catalunya - was equally scathing: 'TVC covered the assassination of Ernest Lluch badly and late, even though it was one of the gravest political events... in the history of Catalan television'. Criticisms and controversies

Since the Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia reform referendum, including the 2006 Generalitat elections and the June 2007 municipal elections, all the electoral information during a campaign broadcasted by TV3 news programs is unsigned in protest of TV3 (and most Catalonian) reporters to the rules that assign the air time of each political party and the order they air in the order of electoral seats (the more seats, the more airtime and first on air) and not based in objective and professional criteria.[9] On June 18, 2006, a referendum altering the Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia of 1979 to expand the authority of the Catalan government was approved in a referendum, and became effective as of August 9, 2006. ... In summer 2006, karaoke program Cantamania raised criticisms by certain political and journalistic sectors because it allowed participants to choose between Spanish, English and Catalan songs, the latter being chosen less often.[10] In the last program, all the songs were translated to Catalan. The program, though, drew respectable ratings and was a hit in the places it went.

Presentation

TV3 has had three different logos in her twenty-something years. The first one consisted of the word "TV3", with the 3 done as it was made with a flag with the colors of the senyera, Catalonia's flag. That logo was created by the Ogilvy advertising agency[11]. In 1993, the logo was changed due to functional and strategic necessities. The new logo was designed by Josep M. Trias[11] and dropped the "TV" letters to focus on a 3 and a triangle made of four lines that also represented the senyera. This logo evolved again in 2005 into the current logo, that strengthens the presence of the 3, from the hand of the advertising agency Gédeón, which won the designing contest[11]. Different flags of territories of the former Crown of Aragon are based upon the Senyera. ...
