Table hockey is a sport played on Stiga table hockey games. The origin of the sport was the Swedish Championship 1982 in Upplands Väsby. Organized table hockey is played in Northern, Central and Eastern Europe, in North America and in Japan. The World Championship is organized by the International Table Hockey Federationevery two years. The Stiga Play Off game is the official game of the Table Hockey World Championship.


The most recent Stiga World Championship was held in Riga, Latvia. The winner was Sweden's Hans Österman. Although a record 22 countries were represented at the Riga World Championships, Sweden, along with Norway, Russia, Finland and the Czech Republic dominate the international Stiga table hockey scene.
