Encyclopedia > Table of limits

This is a table of limits for common functions. Note that a and b are constants with respect to x. In mathematics, the concept of a limit is used to describe the behavior of a function, as its argument gets close to either some point, or infinity; or the behavior of a sequences elements, as their index approaches infinity. ... In mathematics, a function is a relation, such that each element of a set (the domain) is associated with a unique element of another (possibly the same) set (the codomain, not to be confused with the range). ...

Different Table Limits (1044 words)
With table limit poker each round has a set betting amount and a set number of times a bet can be raised, which results in more predictable play with much less bluffing than in no-limit games.
In a pot limit game raises are tied to the amount in the pot at the time the bet is to be made, the amount in the pot determines the amount that can be bet.
Table limit games are for the most part good for beginners but tend to encourage a lot of 'loose' playing by players who call almost all bets even when they are holding a weak hand.
